Hummingbirds $5.99 Hummingbirds is a remarkable effort from the southern dream pop outfit Venus Hum. This EP shimmers and sparkles with electronic delight, while it's also an impressive look at what's yet to come from this ambitious three-piece. Kip Kubin and Tony Miracle tweak the digital instrumentation, while vocalist Annette Strean delivers a warm, rich sound. The title track is an electric haze of lush lyrical depictions mixed with new wave aesthetic, whereas "Run Annie Run" raves in brighter synth beats for a kitschy club/dance schtick. "Illumine" is a soothing, ambient cast from Venus Hum, and overall their energy is intoxicating. Prepare for a sonic daydream trip on Hummingbirds. ~ MacKenzie Wilson |

How often should I clean Hummingbird Feeders?
I am getting new ones. I was told that they should be passed through the dishwasher a few times a week. this was told to me by someone that does it and I have seen how the hummers hang around her feeders! Up to 10 at a time fighting for the nectar. I barely get 2 at a time. I live in se Louisiana

Cleaning a Hummingbird Feeder
It is very important to clean a hummingbird feeder every three days or so. If a hummingbird feeder is not properly cleaned, mold may grow in the nectar. Since hummingbirds are so small with such tiny little organs, any bit of containment in the hummingbird food can cause illness and/or death.
If you don't remember when the last time you cleaned any of your hummingbird feeders is, take a look at the nectar inside. If you notice any discoloration, slimy looking strings of goop, or it just doesn't look quite right, clean the feeder.
First thing to do when cleaning a hummingbird feeder is to empty out all of the Hummingbird Nectar. Just pour it down the drain. Don't worry; you can make more by following the recipe for hummingbird nectar located on the nectar page. Take apart the entire hummingbird feeder according to the manufactures instructions. Soak all of the pieces in nice hot soapy water.
Use a Bottle/Thermos Brush or a Hummingbird Feeder Brush and scrub in inside of the hummingbird feeder tank really well to get out any goop and gunk that might have grown inside. This needs to be done even if you don't see anything inside the tank as mold may just be starting to grow and cannot be seen yet. Make sure to scrub the base and flowers with soap and water as well because goop can sometimes clog these components.
Use really hot water to rinse the hummingbird feeder, but not hot enough to burn yourself. Rinse all the parts and pieces thoroughly. There should be no soap residue left after you are done rinsing. Let all the parts and pieces cool and dry.
After the parts have completely dried, go ahead and put them all back together according to the manufactures instructions. Now, carefully fill the hummingbird feeder tank and attach it to the hummingbird feeder. Hang the hummingbird feeder outside and watch your hummingbirds enjoy.
Remember, it is extremely important to clean your hummingbird feeders approximately every three (3) days to keep you hummingbirds both happy and healthy.
